Who we are
Clarion Hearing Aids is run by Michael Tuck, a sole trader (ABN 24 669 389 835), from North Wollongong NSW 2500, Australia. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “Clarion” mean Michael Tuck trading as Clarion Hearing Aids.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- Contact and order details. Your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number and order history.
- Payment details. Payments are processed by Shopify and our payment providers. We never see or store your full card details.
- What you tell us. Questions you send through our website, chat assistant or email, and what you tell us on the phone. If you choose to share it, this can include information about your hearing, such as how you are finding the aids or the numbers from an audiologist’s report.
- How you use our website. The pages you visit, how you move around them, your device and browser, your approximate location, and the ad or link that brought you to us.
How we collect it
Most of it comes from you: when you order, call, email, use the chat assistant or send us a question. Some is collected automatically by cookies and similar tools on our website, described in section 06. Some comes from the companies that help us, such as delivery updates from Australia Post and payment confirmations from our payment providers.
How we use it
- To process, deliver and support your order.
- To provide the 90-day trial, returns, refunds and the 3-year warranty.
- To answer your questions by phone, email or chat.
- To send you order and delivery updates.
- To improve our website, products and service.
- To show Clarion ads to people who may be interested, and to measure how they perform.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We only send you marketing if you have agreed to it or the law allows it, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We do not sell your personal information.
Information about your hearing
Information about your hearing is health information under the Privacy Act, so we take extra care with it. We only collect it if you choose to share it, we use it only to help with your order, set-up, support and warranty, and we do not share it with advertising platforms.
The aids are set up with the FORSOUND app, which is provided by a third party. Information you enter in the app is handled by the app provider under its own privacy policy.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar tools, including:
- Meta Pixel, to measure the results of our Facebook and Instagram ads and to show our ads to people who may be interested.
- Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors use our pages, such as clicks, scrolling and movement, so we can see what works and fix what does not.
- Google Ads, to measure the results of our Google ads.
- Shopify, which runs our cart and checkout and keeps its own store analytics.
We also use your browser’s storage to remember your cart and which ad or link brought you to us.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage the ads you see at facebook.com/adpreferences and adssettings.google.com.
Information stored overseas
Some of these companies store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We take reasonable steps to choose providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to the Australian Privacy Principles.
Phone calls and chat
Calls to 0485 028 699 may be answered by a virtual assistant. Calls are recorded and transcribed so we can follow up on your enquiry and improve our service.
The chat assistant on our website is automated. What you type is processed by our AI provider so it can answer you. Please do not enter payment details in the chat.
The phone and chat assistants give general product information, not medical advice.
How we keep it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we use service providers with secure systems. We keep information only for as long as we need it for your order, the trial, the 3-year warranty and our legal and tax records, and then delete or de-identify it.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Call or email us and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a complaint about how we handle your information, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
